SUPPORT FOR YOU WHEN YOUR BABY DIES

“A woman who loses her husband is called a widow.
A man who loses his wife is called a widower.
A child who loses its parents is called an orphan.
There is no word to describe a parent who loses a child, for there is no word to describe the pain.”

SUPPORT GROUPS:

We offer two support groups, that each meet on a monthly basis. Our SANDS support group is for anyone who has been affected by the loss of a baby, and is run by a small groups of trained Befrienders, who are themselves bereaved parents.
Our PALS support group is for those who have experienced a loss and are pregnant, or are thinking of becoming, pregnant. Groups are run by one our Befrienders, supported by one of a team of midwives.

In addition to our regular support meetings, we also run Sibling Support workshops throughout the year, as well as informal day time meets and family picnics in the summer.

BEFRIENDING:

If you would like to talk to someone but are not sure if a group meeting is right for you, several Sands members offer one-to-one befriending. We can talk over the phone or message by email if you would prefer. Please contact our Support Coordinator for more information.
